Hello All,
I hope that everyone is enjoying the last couple weeks of summer.
This week we’re going to take a break from the comic book side of things so I can fill you in on some upcoming film and tv projects.
Let’s get into it!
WINNING TIME SEASON 2
Winning Time: Rise of the Lakers Dynasty on HBO has started production on its second season.
It’s been so much fun getting back together with the whole cast and crew to create another special season that I hope you all will come to enjoy.

Ride Around Shining
Netflix is making a feature film of Chris Leslie-Hynan’s novel Ride Around Shining, which I’m adapting and Jonah Hill’s Strong Baby Productions is producing.
Leslie-Hynan’s Ride Around Shining tells the provocative story of a young white chauffeur and his wealthy Black employer, a professional basketball player. I would describe it as a discomfiting portrait of envy and obsession.
Matt Dines, LaKeith Stanfield, and Colin Stark are producing, with Ali Goodwin executive producing. Author Leslie-Hynan is attached as an associate producer on the project.
More information on Ride Around Shining will be shared as it is available.
Tiger Woods Project
I am writing a Tiger Woods mini-series!
The Tiger Woods scripted mini-series based on Jeff Benedict and Armen Keteyiann’s biography of the controversial golf champion, has moved a step closer to a hole in one.
The book, which was published in 2018, became a New York Times best seller and tells the story of one of the greatest career comebacks in sports history.
I’m excited to continue to develop this project out and get it on the silver screen.
BLACULA
Zombie Love Studios will launch in January 2023 with Blacula
The cult classic horror character is returning in a new graphic novel from artist Jason Shawn Alexander and myself. The Blacula graphic novel has long been a passion project for me.
I grew up on the Universal monster movies, but my notion of what horror could be changed when I saw Blacula at age eight.
Before watching the 1972 Blacula I had never seen anything with people of color prominently positioned within a piece. That’s why Blacula blew me away; it was a lot more authentic than anything else I’d seen up until that point. That moment lit a small flame in my imagination. Four decades later, here I am writing a graphic novel on the same character.
I cannot wait for you guys to get your hands on it.
