My Top Three Horror-Themed TV Shows
Some of these picks are going to surprise you, and they might be a bit controversial, but it’s how I’m feeling today.
At number three — DARK SHADOWS
The great Barnabas Collins. I really love the idea of a vampire soap opera. It really had the essence of both horror and vampires, both of which I love. But it also added in a soap opera element at the same time which was completely original.
At number two — TWIN PEAKS
Twin Peaks was odd, sexy, cool, and weird. It was not your conventional television show where you’re gonna get a beginning, a middle, and a clear conclusion to something that’s gonna make you come back next week. You watched it because you enjoyed the quirkiness and the oddness of it, which for me works.
At number one — LOVECRAFT COUNTRY
I love what Lovecraft Country was. I thought HBO did a great job with it. The creativity from week to week. I didn’t know what to expect. I like how social commentary was blended into the narrative and how the characters really seemed to care about the world they were in. But it was a world that was sort of contained. It was weird and odd, but they could go anywhere with it. Really high on imagination. And I thought the performances and directing were great.
