My top 5 paranormal film recommendations
The best ghost stories to grace film... In my opinion that is.
My Top 5 Paranormal Films
By paranormal I mean ghost stories.
At #5 - John Carpenter’s The Fog
At number five, The Fog. — An unearthly fog rolls into a small coastal town exactly 100 years after a ship mysteriously sank in its waters.
I love that movie. It was very quiet. I remember the lighthouse and the Ghost, and the late great Hal Holbrook. I just loved the pirates, the feeling, and the setting.
Available to rent on Amazon Prime.
At #4 - The Conjuring
At number four, The Conjuring — Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren work to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in their farmhouse.
An investigative type film which is the types of films that I like. I like the atmosphere, the tension, and it has some of the best jump scares I’ve seen in a many years.
Available to watch on MAX.
At #3 - The Ring
At number three, The Ring — A journalist must investigate a mysterious videotape which seems to cause the death of anyone one week to the day after they view it.
I remember seeing this movie in a big theater that was full of folks on opening night. And spoiler alert, when she comes through the television everybody screamed.
Available to stream on Paramount+
At #2 - The Sixth Sense
At number two, The Sixth Sense — Malcolm Crowe, a child psychologist, starts treating a young boy, Cole, who encounters dead people and convinces him to help them. In turn, Cole helps Malcolm reconcile with his estranged wife.
Spoiler alert — Bruce Willis was dead. I remember wondering why he didn’t change his clothes. I thought maybe it was a budgetary thing. And then you find out that he’s dead and I was like, oh wow that’s kinda cool.
Available to rent on Amazon Prime.
At #1 - 1408
At number one, 1408 — A man who specializes in debunking paranormal occurrences checks into the fabled room 1408 in the Dolphin Hotel. Soon after settling in, he confronts genuine terror.
This movie doesn’t get enough credit. To me, it’s the best of what a ghost story could be, it’s a malevolent force that was connected at some point to what that person was when they lived. This movie embodied that in two characters, both in the ghosts in the room, and in the protagonist that was trying to tell the story of them at the same time.
Available for streaming on STARZ!

Florence & Normandie: Coming July 17th!
From Zombie Love Studios comes a new tale of monsters and mayhem!
Down on his luck, Malik, an intelligent, young black man with an engineering degree— delivers fast food just to make ends meet. His girlfriend left him, his grandmother thinks he’s a disappointment, and his ambitions and hope are slipping away. He doesn’t think his life could get any worse…until an APB of a suspected criminal that matches Malik’s description puts him in direct odds with Officer Brown, a cop with a chip on his shoulder who is looking for any excuse to escalate the situation.
Now, Florence and Normandie - the cross-street infamously known as the flashpoint of the 1992 LA Riots - may just be the last thing Malik sees if he makes one wrong move…but little does he know that this landmark corner is about to find itself at the center of another seminal moment of American history: The world’s first alien invasion.
Can these two men, from polar opposite backgrounds, put aside their differences and stop fighting each other long enough to find a way to save Los Angeles… or will they kill each other first?
The story comes from legendary Rapper/Actor @xzibit and myself, with art from @wayshak and @margalotto.
