My Five Favorite Horror Directors
My Top Five Horror Directors
#5 Wes Craven
I always loved his ability to weave a fantasy element into a grounded idea. Think Nightmare on Elm Street. His ability to seep fear into that idea of your sleep so you were never safe.
#4 George Romero
I love his ability to take a social messaging, whether it was, the dangers of capitalism in Dawn of The Dead or race issues when it came to Night of The Living Dead. He was able take something and reimagine it in a whole new genre of filmmaking.
#3 Jordan Peele
Jordan’s ability to take modern ideas and create a Hitchcockian feel that’s complicated and layered, but still grounded in a way. I think it’s fantastic. Get Out took a normal situation and turned it on its head.
#2 Guillermo Del Toro
I think of The Orphanage. I think of Crimson Peak. His ability to sort of weave a classic idea that speaks to the Hammer Films and the Universal Monster movies in a way that a fan would from back in the day, but still make it original, and have his own touch, tone, and voice.
#1 John Carpenter
His ability to take simple situation and make them feel complex. Jamie Lee Curtis in the first Halloween, there was a feeling that I had about her, complex kid trying to figure out life. And now she’s thrust into this situation where this maniac is after her.

Run, Fool!
Awesome news! Run, Fool! is climbing the charts!
Out of the terrifying mind of Rodney Barnes comes RUN, FOOL!, a weekly compendium of grisly and harrowing tales guaranteed to make you scream. Pull up a seat at the campfire and lean in for a new breed of modern ghost story. If you get too scared ... RUN, FOOL!
From the page to the screen – and now straight to your ears – Rodney Barnes has created genre defining stories about monsters, demons, vampires, and the occult. With RUN, FOOL!, every week he’ll tell a new story, each of a different place and period, all equally frightening - and all brought together with gripping and immersive sound design.
As always I appreciate all the support!

After receiving a terminal diagnosis, George seeks out an experimental treatment from a mysterious doctor. But his desire to cheat death takes a dark turn.
Batman: Full Moon - Coming next month!
An ancient and supernatural force stalks the streets of Gotham City—a werewolf so powerful it’ll defy Batman’s most trusted resources: his brilliant mind and extensive gadgetry. But are Batman’s physical strength and resilience alone enough to put the creature down for good, or will this fight strip him down to his very bones? Even powerful magical allies like Zatanna caution the Dark Knight that he may not walk away from this encounter unscathed.
While developing the idea, my editor and I discussed a lot of questions such as “Who could Batman fight that would take him out of Gotham City and present a different type of obstacle to him?” The gadgets don’t work, the Batcave…none of the typical Batman stuff he uses to win. He has to use his wits. We have to take it to an emotional place that takes him to the edge and forces him to look at himself as Bruce Wayne as much as he does as Batman.
This is also a black label book that promises a bit of a darker tone than traditional DC fare. Cussing. Limbs flying. And a bunch more fun stuff.
