‘SHOOK! A BLACK HORROR ANTHOLOGY’
Second Sight Publishing and John Jennings Studio LLC will release Shook!, A Black Horror Anthology, a 160-page horror anthology collecting EC-style stories by a range of award-winning Black writers, in 2023. The anthology was inspired by a love of what Jennings calls Southern Gothic horror.
I’m excited to announce that I am one of the writers that will be involved in this project!
Writers on the project will include myself, Hugo Award winner John Jennings, Eisner Award nominee Kevin Grevioux, Eisner Award winner David Walker, Glyph Comics Award winner Alverne Ball, Glyph Comics Award nominee Marcus H. Roberts, Glyph nominee Bradley Golden, and Eisner Award nominee Brandon Easton. The collection will also include a story written by actor Evan Parke (Captain America and the Winter Soldier, King Kong).
Artists in the volume include Flavio Cortes, Charlie Goubile, Jamal Williams, Roberto Castro, David Brame, Glenn D. Brown, and Shawn Alleyne.

FANGORIA: 9 Horror Comics to watch out for 2023
I am thrilled that my graphic novel Blacula: Return of the King has made Fangoria’s list of 9 horror comics to watch for in 2023.
“Rodney Barnes and Jason Shawn Alexander are well known as the dynamic duo of vampire comics thanks to their series Killadelphia, but they have set their sights on a new series, Blacula: Return of the King. The book is an adaptation and expansion of the classic 1972 blaxploitation film that brings it to the modern day, pushing boundaries with its contemporary setting for the film's characters. The series follows two characters, one looking for vengeance and the other looking for truth. Neither of them knows they are searching for the same thing — Blacula. The comic is coming from Barnes' own Zombie Love Studios in February.”
