An ancient and supernatural force stalks the streets of Gotham City—a werewolf so powerful it’ll defy Batman’s most trusted resources: his brilliant mind and extensive gadgetry. But are Batman’s physical strength and resilience alone enough to put the creature down for good, or will this fight strip him down to his very bones? Even powerful magical allies like Zatanna caution the Dark Knight that he may not walk away from this encounter unscathed.
While developing the idea, my editor and I discussed a lot of questions such as “Who could Batman fight that would take him out of Gotham City and present a different type of obstacle to him?” The gadgets don’t work, the Batcave…none of the typical Batman stuff he uses to win. He has to use his wits. We have to take it to an emotional place that takes him to the edge and forces him to look at himself as Bruce Wayne as much as he does as Batman.
This is also a black label book that promises a bit of a darker tone than traditional DC fare. Cussing. Limbs flying. And a bunch more fun stuff.

I grew up on the Universal monster movies, and the notion of what horror could be changed when I saw the classic MGM horror movie Blacula at age eight. It was an honor to continue the story that myself and so many others love and that honor continues with the release of the Blacula hardcover.
